Xperia Touch: Sony launches smart projector with support for interactive content
By ELECTRONICS
The Xperia Touch is a projector that runs Android and which promises to turn any flat surface into a touch screen of HD resolution. Compatible with any app or content offered via the Play Store, Sony's handset aims to promote new types of user interaction by using a laser that projects the images on the surface, a camera and a set of infrared sensors that follow the movements of the fingers And translate them into commands for the device to process.
The "screen" projected by the Xperia Touch can be a maximum of 23 inches in situations where the projector is in contact with the surface on which it projects: such as on a table, for example. The size of the projected area decreases proportionally the farther the surface becomes.
The video below shows the Xperia Touch projector working and gives an idea of how its features can be exploited by users:
The possibilities of using the Xperia Touch have been demonstrated by Sony in a video that explores the features of the device. It is possible, for example, to play games with the crowd, use the projector in the kitchen to follow a recipe on the same surface where the user prepares a dish, use the wall as a message board, and more conventional projector applications: see Movies on the wall, using apps like Netflix, Google Play Movies and Amazon Prime, for example.
The Xperia Touch, however, has a salty launch price and should be found, at first, only in the European market. It is expected that the device will be available in the fall, priced at € 1,499 (about R $ 4,935, in direct conversion, without taxes).
