Makerbuino: Build Your Own Retro Console With Classic Games
By Games
Makerbuino is a project that allows you to build your own retro video game console with 8-bit games. Based on Arduino and open source, the device comes with classic and popular games like 2048, Pacman and Snake and is fully customizable and reprogrammable.
The gadget offers the DIY proposal (Do It Yourself, or Do It Yourself). According to the developer, children from 11 years old can build a Makerbuino following an assembly guide. During the process it is still possible to test programming skills to change games or create menus.
8-bit games come with Makerbuino on an SD card, each with its own code. In this way, more curious users can make changes in games, creating new phases or adapting the programming to a project of their own, with the possibility of joining the gadget library.
Another interesting point of the device is the setup to play in multiplayer mode with up to 128 Makerbuinos together. The consoles must be connected using a cable for data exchange.
The handset with retro design is sold in kit form with all the necessary components. However, the user who wants to customize their gadget can add pieces like LED lights to the buttons or even a software with GPS.
The Makerbuino has already hit the Kickstarter funding goal and is on sale for $35. According to the developer, the kit already comes with spare parts and anyone who has problems during the construction of the console can come into direct contact With him for help.
